Dr. Jodi Eatt
Clinical Director & Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Jodi Eatt is a locally trained Psychiatrist who has practised in Perth, Peel and the Kimberley regions. Her interests and expertise lie in general adult psychiatry. She is experienced in working with people in their recovery from Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, developmental trauma and loss, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder. She has special interests in Psychotherapy and Aboriginal Mental Health.
Dr Jodi has experience working with people at all stages of life including youth, older adult and the peri-natal period, as well as those with overlapping physical and psychiatric illnesses. Dr Jodi works from a frame of understanding that our minds and bodies, and social and emotional wellbeing are not separate, but overlapping and intertwined aspects of our mental health. As such, she takes a takes a holistic approach to diagnosing and treating mental illness, working collaboratively with clients, their families, and the broader health care team to develop a shared understanding of the physical, emotional and social aspects of illness and recovery.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Prior to her role as Clinical Director at Health In Mind, Dr Jodi was working as a Consultant Psychiatrist in private practice in Subiaco, Western Australia. She holds current specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Dr Jodi attained Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2021.
Her specialist training in Psychiatry was undertaken in Western Australia where she gained extensive experience in Community and Inpatient mental health care in metropolitan and regional/remote settings. A highlight of her training was the opportunity to practice within the Kimberley Mental Health and Drug Service in Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, and surrounding Communities in 2016, and her longitudinal experiences with the Peel and Rockingham Mental Health Service, particularly within the Early Episode Psychosis Service.
Prior to her specialist training in psychiatry, Dr Jodi worked at Rockingham and Fremantle Hospitals as a junior doctor in Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, and Surgical roles. Dr Jodi is an Approved Medical Specialist (AMS) in the Western Australian workers’ compensation scheme and Certified Impairment Rater in the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
Along with her clinical career in Medicine, Dr Jodi has also worked in academic positions as a Tutor at the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health (within the School of Indigenous Studies), University of Western Australia, and as a Lecturer in Aboriginal Health at the University of Notre Dame’s School of Medicine (Fremantle). She has also provided teaching about Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for trainee psychiatrists within the Western Australian Post Graduate Training in Psychiatry program.
Dr Jodi is a longstanding and current member of the Australian Indigenous Doctors Association and has a commitment to lifelong learning as a doctor. Most recently she has engaged in training for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, a form of trauma focused psychotherapy, and Women’s Mental Health (Monash University Short course).
