Private Health Insurance

Many private health insurers provide rebates for mental health services, including psychology, clinical psychology and social work sessions.

The amount you are rebated will vary depending on your insurance provider and level of cover. You can’t claim both a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate for the same appointment, so if you are eligible for both a Medicare rebate and private health insurance rebate, then it’s worth weighing up the best option for you.

Workers’ Compensation and Motor Vehicle Injury Claims

If you have received compensation for a workplace incident, Motor Vehicle Injury or other legal matter causing psychological distress, your full session fees may be covered.

To find out more, check with your insurer, employer or legal consultant.

If you have served at least one day in the Australian Defence Force, you are eligible for free mental healthcare with approved DVA providers, including individual sessions with a psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker and more.
