Family Therapy Services
Our Family Therapists provide professional therapy and support to individuals involved with the Family Court and/or families working through separation. Our experienced Family Therapists assist parents and children to navigate the challenges of parental separation and parenting proceedings which are often fraught with complex emotional issues, especially for children.
We’re here to help
The Health in Mind team will support the family through this journey to ensure peace of mind is achieved. The safety of all family members is prioritised throughout the process. Each therapist works differently, but typically a therapist will interview each member of the family separately before bringing a combination of family members together in joint sessions, subject to any safety concerns for any member of the family.
Court-ordered family therapy
In reportable family therapy, the family therapist is required to report to the Court as to the progress of the therapy. Reportable family therapy may be agreed upon between the parties or ordered by the Court. The goals of family therapy may be agreed upon by the parties or set out in orders of the Court.
In non-reportable family therapy, parents and children engage with a therapist in a confidential setting. Nothing discussed during the course of family therapy is disclosed to the Court or any other person outside family therapy, subject to mandatory reporting requirements.
