Kate Atkinson
Registered Psychologist
Kate is a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. She has extensive experience working as a School Psychologist in both Junior and Senior Schools, helping young people navigate academic, social, behavioural, and emotional challenges.
Kate has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent children and adolescents, including young people with ADHD and autism, and works closely with parents to build understanding, confidence, and practical strategies. Her approach is informed by her professional experience, specialist ADHD training, and lived experience as a parent of a neurodivergent young person.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma of Education in School Psychology. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in nature, watching sunrises and sunsets, and being near the ocean and river. A passionate endurance athlete, she values sport as an important part of mental wellbeing and was the 2026 Australian Long Course Triathlon Champion and Australian Team Time Trial Cycling Champion in her age group.
Experience with First Responders and the Defence Force
Kate has 10 years’ experience supporting parents, children, and adolescents with challenges such as anxiety, depression, school refusal, grief and loss, non-suicidal self-harm, ADHD, Autism, and friendship or relationship issues. She has also spent two years working with Centrelink clients. This experience has provided her with insight into the unique stressors faced by first responders and Defence Force personnel and their families, allowing her to deliver tailored, supportive care.
