Dr Maliththa Muwanwella
Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Muwanwella is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). She provides care for adults aged 18 to 60 and is dedicated to delivering treatment tailored to the individual needs of each patient.
After completing her medical degree at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka in 2004, Dr Muwanwella relocated to Perth, where she undertook specialist psychiatry training in Western Australia. Since 2019, she has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Mother and Baby Unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Dr Muwanwella’s primary area of expertise is perinatal psychiatry, supporting women and their partners through pregnancy and the postpartum period. She also offers psychotherapy (talking therapy) as part of her care, providing a safe and supportive space to explore emotional and relational challenges. Her practice focuses on outpatient care, and she does not conduct ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder assessments or manage patients requiring hospital admission.
