Shamira Edwards
Provisional Psychologist
Shamira is a psychologist with over a decade of experience in South Africa, where she honed her expertise from 2000 to 2010 before moving to Australia. Since relocating, Shamira has expanded her professional focus to include workplace psychological interventions, leadership coaching, hypnotherapy, and life coaching. Although she is not currently registered as a psychologist in Australia, Shamira is actively engaged in a transitional program tailored for psychologists with international qualifications. This program involves a comprehensive supervision period, ensuring she remains at the forefront of contemporary practices in psychology. Shamira sees clients across the lifespan and has an interest in working with clients with relational concerns, anxiety, depression and trauma.

As a seasoned Provisional Psychologist, Shamira offers extensive knowledge and experience in treating a variety of mental health disorders. Her practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches, providing thorough assessments and personalized therapy plans. Shamira integrates diverse therapeutic disciplines to address the unique needs of her clients, leveraging her cross-cultural experiences and interpersonal skills to foster trust and effective communication.
Leadership Coaching
Shamira excels in leadership coaching, offering invaluable support to managers and leaders navigating both professional and personal challenges. Her approach transcends traditional coaching methods by blending organisational and clinical psychology insights. This holistic perspective helps optimise individual and team performance, enhancing motivation, collaboration, emotional intelligence, and overall well-being. She is skilled at fostering a supportive environment for both individual and team success.
Couple Therapy and Relationship Counselling
In her couples counselling practice, Shamira employs the proven methods of Drs. John and Julie Gottman. This research-based approach involves detailed assessments and interventions to address intimacy issues, conflict, and trust, including breaching trust within relationships. Shamira facilitates open communication and teaches effective conflict resolution techniques, helping couples strengthen their bonds and achieve their relationship goals through structured exercises and discussions.
Shamira also assists her clients by helping, guiding, facilitating and supporting families following relationship issues. She assists with “conscious uncoupling” and transitioning to a different family identity.
RTT – Hypnotherapy
Shamira is trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), a unique method developed by Marisa Peer that integrates Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). RTT targets negative emotions and limiting beliefs at their source, promoting profound personal change. Shamira utilises RTT as a complementary adjunct tool in her therapeutic practice, enhancing clients’ ability to overcome deep-seated issues, entrenched patterns and adopt new, positive behaviours.
