Shamira Edwards

Provisional Psychologist

Shamira is a Provisional Psychologist with over a decade of experience in South Africa, where she practised from 2000 to 2010 before relocating to Australia. Since moving, she has broadened her expertise to include workplace psychological interventions, leadership coaching, hypnotherapy, and life coaching. She is currently undertaking a transitional program for internationally qualified psychologists, involving comprehensive supervision to ensure her practice remains aligned with contemporary standards in Australia.

Shamira works with clients across the lifespan and has interests in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship concerns. She draws on evidence-based approaches to tailor care to the unique needs of each client. Her cross-cultural background and strong interpersonal skills enable her to create a safe and trusting environment that supports meaningful change.

Alongside individual therapy, Shamira has extensive experience in couples and relationship counselling, using the Gottman Method to address communication difficulties, intimacy challenges, conflict, and breaches of trust. She also supports families through transitions, including conscious uncoupling, helping clients navigate new family identities with care and guidance.

Shamira is also trained in Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), an approach that integrates hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). She uses RTT as a complementary tool in her therapeutic practice, enhancing clients’ ability to overcome deep-seated issues, entrenched patterns and adopt new, positive behaviours.

With her compassionate and holistic approach, Shamira is dedicated to supporting clients in building resilience, improving relationships, and enhancing overall wellbeing.
